Use it Fresh
Refrigerate your fresh young ginger and turmeric and use it within two weeks. Unlike mature ginger and turmeric, the young roots have no skin and are not shelf stable.
Freeze it for Later
To store young ginger and turmeric longer than two weeks, freezing is a great option. To freeze your roots:
1. Wash and dry the ginger and turmeric, if needed.
2. Cut the roots into chunks (1-2 inches long)
3. Place the root chunks in a freezer-safe container and freeze away!
For best results, grate, slice, or blend the ginger while it’s still frozen. Try not to let it thaw completely before adding it to you favorite recipes.
